Avid readers Allison and Sadie discovered they had a mutual craving: to enrich their lives with a broader range of literature, and specifically to engage with culturally relevant works authored by women and people of color. Not finding a book group like this in Brooklyn, the librarian and book lover decided to use their backgrounds to create one for the community
