About Messy Art Rip, crumple, scrunch, glue, twirl, scribble, swirl, drip, splatter, drizzle, stack, and smear. Messy Art Class emphasizes practice and integrated sensorial experience over an end product. Little hands and minds will engage with the materials of art-making: exploration, manipulation, and experimentation and are guided through the creative practice and conversation around art-making.
Lynne Ruedeman is a mom, dancer, art-maker, movement specialist, and educator specializing in aesthetic education. Lynne believes that creativity, beauty, fun, and sensorial experiences are non-negotiable components of learning. She holds a BS in Studio Art and Dance Education from NYU and an MFA in Choreography from Sarah Lawrence College. Over the past 20 years, Lynne has held positions as adjunct faculty at Hunter College, full-time movement teacher for the NYC public schools, teaching-artist-in-residence, and curriculum developer and consultant for “Literacy through Dance” and “Literacy through Art” programs which she created and presented for Long Island Public School Educators. Lynne dances and choreographs professionally with Sara Rudner and Dancers and as an independent artist. Nowadays, leaving full-time teaching to be with her children Ruby and Ben, Lynne can be found doing just about anything physical: dancing, yoga, even surfing and paddle boarding which she tried this summer, and anything artful: making collages, sculptures, and sewn art all out of found materials.
