Writing: Birth Stories - Free Intro Class

In this introduction, part- discussion, part- lecture and part-practicum, we will take some time to connect around our own birth stories. We’ll discuss exposure to birthing stories before delivery, and consider what place birth stories have in our collective future.  How can future generations of birthing women can benefit from your birthing experience?  Let your words be powerful agents of healing and hope for yourself and for others by writing your birth story.

After reviewing some outlining and brainstorming concepts, Writers will take a first pass at creating a structure or outline for their own, as of yet unwritten birth story.  Bring a laptop or pen and paper.

*This intro is preparation for the 6 week class beginning in September.

Sarah has fancied herself a writer since the age of 8, when she wrote stories about inquisitive children adventuring into seemingly abandoned houses, that turned out to be “haunted” by good natured elders.  After some legitimate study of English Literature, Creative Writing, Composition/Rhetoric, some teaching at the college level, and nearly 3 decades of fantasizing, she is finally settled into her routine writing practice.

In 2016, she went into business as a writing coach to support writers in creating & cultivating their own writing practice.  She is Organizer for A Gentle Kick in the Ass Meetup, a September through May Writing Group.  One of Sarah’s dream projects is to create a legitimate encyclopedic, birthing resource on the internet.  Sarah lives in Brooklyn with her husband, two daughters and a goldfish.
